More Pup O Mania!

As many of you already know, Ginger’s puppies were whelped on March 17, St. Patrick’s Day!  We have 9 healthy, roly-poly pups that are just beginning to open their eyes as I write this.  There are 4 males and 5 females in the litter.  We have one black female, one red female and 7 pups have mixed brown and cream coloring.
Our puppy names are usually related to the color of the ric rac collars that we use to identify the puppies.  We couldn’t resist giving Irish names to these pups, in honor of St. Patrick.  The black puppy already has a home waiting for her.  We have called her “Paddy Cake”.  One of the cream colored puppies wears a green collar and we call her “Green Colleen”.   There’s also “Erin” and “Kenny” and “Seamus” and so on.  These names have not been registered; so the new owners will be free to name their own pups as they see fit.
Ginger and her entire litter paid a visit to the Vet on Wednesday 3/21 for a check-up and dew claw removal.  The Vet was happy to tell us that all the pups were healthy and progressing nicely.  Ginger is doing fine as well.
At this point, the whelping box is a blue, plastic, kiddy-pool that we have in a spare room.  As the puppies get bigger and are able to regulate their body temperature, they will move into a larger whelping box and eventually move into the garage when they need more space.
Ginger is, once again, showing us what great Mom she is for her pups. When they are not feeding they like to snuggle into her hair which provides some extra grooming challenges.  It’s probably not entirely coincidental that the words “puppy” and “poopy” sound so much alike!
Once the puppies have reached 4 weeks of age we will invite potential owners to come and visit the litter and pick out their pups.  If you are interested in a puppy, you can contact Lyn for pricing and a puppy application.

We are also happy to announce that Kaia is expecting her first litter of puppies about mid-May.  We bred Kaia with a black lab named “Dudley the Duck Delivery Dog”!  Dudley has his Hunting Retriever Champion Title and by the time you read this he’ll be on his way to the Grand Championship!  We’re very pleased that Dudley could take time off from his busy training schedule to spend some quality time with Kaia.
We expect to see both black and yellow pups in this litter.  The pups should be ready for new homes about the first week of July.  Both Kaia and Dudley have health certifications for hips, elbows, CNM, and EIC.  Their pedigrees can be viewed here:
Please feel free to contact us if you are interested in an excellent hunting partner and companion.
